The whole country may experience rain showers due to the trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) and the northeast monsoon or “amihan,” the weather bureau said Wednesday.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the trough of the LPA outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility will prevail over Palawan, the Visayas, and Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 4 a.m. bulletin.

Rain showers due to the northeast monsoon will be experienced over the Bicol Region, Cagayan Valley, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Aurora, and Quezon.

These areas may experience flash floods or landslides due to light to moderate with at times heavy rains, the bureau warned.

PAGASA added that the northeast monsoon would bring light rain showers over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over Luzon and the Visayas.

The seaboards of Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, La Union, Pangasinan, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Cagayan, and Isabela will have rough to very rough seas.

Fishing boats and other small sea vessels are advised not to venture into the sea, and larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.

Over Mindanao, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (PNA)
