The crash site of the missing Cessna plane in Albay has been found, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said Tuesday, Feb. 21.

Two days after the possible debris of the Cessna 340 aircraft was reportedly found near Mayon Volcano crater, CAAP located its wreckage at the west side slope of Mayon Volcano at the elevation of 3,500 to 4,000 feet.

CAAP said the wreckage site was identified using a high resolution camera.

The aircraft’s four passengers, which include two Australian nationals, have yet to be found.

“As of now, the condition of the crew and passengers are not yet known as the exact site has not been reached by the [search and rescue] (SAR) team due to bad weather,” it added.

The SAR team, utilizing a Philippine Air Force Black Hawk helicopter and a Philippine Navy AW109 aircraft, earlier launched three attempts which failed to reach the wreckage site due to intensified winds in the area.

The Cessna 340 plane was reported missing on Feb. 18 after it lost contact with the Bicol International Airport around 6:46 a.m. It was scheduled to land in Manila at 7:53 a.m. -ag
