Over 7-M reward given to PNP informants

More than P7 million were given by the Philippine National Police (PNP) as reward to its nine informants who helped the agency apprehended most wanted persons.

The wanted persons are facing heinous crimes such as rape, theft, and murder. Some of them were involved in the Maguindanao massacre.

The issuance of monetary reward underwent evaluation of the PNP board. The rewards were charged against the PNP’s intelligence fund.

“No money could equate ‘yung risk that our informants are taking kasi kung minsan buhay nila ang [isinasakripisyo] just by coming out in the open,” PNP Directorate for Intelligence MGen. Benjamin Acroda Jr. said.

“Kumbaga ‘yan na lang ang incentives natin para kahit papaano may compensation doon sa risk na ibinibigay nila,” he added. – Report from Patrick de Jesus/AG – gb
