Two persons died in a road mishap in Caloocan after a sports utility vehicle (SUV) crashed with a tricycle and a car.

Based on the CCTV footage, a gray SUV crashed with a yellow tricycle before hitting a black car at the corner of Gen. Malvar and Tirad Pass Streets in Barangay 137 Bagong Bario, Caloocan.

The tricycle driver, Benjamin “Emong” Lazaro and his passenger were brought to a nearby hospital.

Lazaro was declared dead-on-arrival.

The passenger, Maria Cecillia Chua, a teacher at Bagong Barrio Elementary school, died while being treated in the hospital.

Meanwhile, passengers of the black car did not sustain any injuries.

According to Lazaro’s daughter Lyn, they understand that what happened was an accident.

“Sa ngayon ang gusto lang namin maiuwi na ‘yung tatay namin sa amin,” Lyn said.

According to PCpl. Dennis Michael Natividad, investigator of the said incident, the 18-year-old driver of the SUV was with his classmates when the accident happened.

They were reportedly buying items for a school project.

“Ang posible pong kaso kakaharapin ng suspect driver natin ay reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide, physical injuries, and damage to properties,” Natividad said.

“Dapat lagi po tayong defensive driver, lagi nating i-observe ang traffic rules, laging open minded tayo sa mga bagay na posible na mangyari na kahit nag-iingat tayo eh posible pa rin tayong maaksidente kaya dapat doble ingat natin,” he added. – Report from Joshua Garcia/GB-ag
