The spirit of the EDSA People Power Revolution is still alive, the Aquino family said Saturday, Feb. 25, as the country commemorated the 37th anniversary of the event.

In a statement, the Aquino family said Feb. 25 marks the remembrance of the “heroism of the Filipino people.”

“The EDSA People Power Revolution showed the world that it was possible for a courageous and truly unified people to reclaim the freedom that a dictatorship had denied them,” the statement read.

“We believe that the indomitable spirit exemplified by one Filipino nation 37 years ago remains alive to this very day,” it further read.

The Aquino family said the EDSA People Power Revolution is “the same spirit that guards and protects our democracy.”
