The Smart Communications, Inc. on Monday, Feb. 27, assured the public that its services will remain available and accessible to users amid the shut down of its main office in Makati.

The Makati City Government on Monday issued a closure against Smart Communications, Inc., citing failure to secure a business permit in 2019.

In a statement, Smart said it filed the appropriate cases to resolve the outstanding legal issues and said that the cases “remain pending.”

“Our legal and tax teams continued to be in touch with the Makati [local government unit] on the matters at hand,” Smart said.

“We assure the public that our services will remain available and accessible to our subscribers,” it added.

The telecom giant said it remains committed to complying with Makati City’s local tax ordinances and with applicable national laws.
