
Five Japanese crew members onboard MV Catriona were rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Saturday morning, March 11 after encountering a maritime accident off the coast of Navotas, Calapan in Oriental Mindoro.
The PCG said the seafarers departed Japan en route to Davao when their vessel was accidentally damaged, causing it to list.
“Upon receipt of the report from a transiting vessel, the PCG Command Center coordinated with the Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog and PCG Station Oriental Mindoro to conduct a search and rescue (SAR) operation,” PCG said.
“The PCG SAR team performed a medical check-up on the rescued individuals to ensure they remained in good physical condition,” it added. – cf
