Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. will lead the Special Task Force Degamo (STF Degamo) to resolve “in the soonest possible time” the ongoing investigation of Negros Oriental Governer Roel Degamo’s assassination case.

Defense Officer-in-Charge Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. and Justice Secretary Crispin Remulla were designated as co-Chairpersons, while Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr., Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gen. Andres Centino, and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Atty. Medardo de Lemos were designated as task force commanders.

In a press release, the Philippine National Police said the whole of the government approach has been established to suppress all forms of violence in Negros Oriental, pursuant to the instructions of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

“STF Degamo was created to address the pressing peace and security issues in Negros Oriental,” said PNP, adding that the military and other law enforcement agencies will augment the PNP to keep the peace and order within the province of Negros Oriental through STF Degamo.
