Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong on Tuesday, March 14, appealed for more disaster volunteers in the city.

Magalong, who is also the chair of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMO), called for volunteers to register under the CDRRM Office’s (CDRRMO) Baguio Disaster Volunteer Management Unit as their Volunteer Mobilizing Organization (VMO).

CDRRMC secretariat chief, Antonette Anaban, said volunteers must be Filipino citizens, have no pending criminal liability, while resident foreign nationals must have an ACR I-Card.

Volunteers must also be 18 years of age or older. Individuals below 21 years old are required to submit duly signed parental consent.

For those from civil society organizations and the private sector, they need to show proof of experience in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management.

For volunteer tasks requiring specialized expertise, volunteers must have at least a year’s cumulative of work-related experience and should be physically fit.

Meanwhile, completed application forms for accreditation, together with a list of local disaster volunteers, are requirements for VMOs.

Volunteers may contact CDRRMO officer Kenneth Khayog at 661-1455 or 09178326649, through [email protected], or via Facebook at Baguio CDRRMO VMO.

The CDRRMC during its full council meeting also reiterated its resolution approving the accreditation of 32 registered volunteers under the CDRRMO’s BDVMU as their VMO. -ag
