The University of the Philippines (UP) College of Law has won its 6th consecutive title at the Philippine National Rounds of the 2023 Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.

The UP Law has been a national champion since 2018 and defeated this year’s team, the University of San Carlos, by unanimous decision.

The Jessup is the largest moot court globally that gathers around 700 law schools from 100 countries and jurisdictions, where several teams from across the country competed in the Philippine National Rounds.

It is sponsored by Divina Law and the University of Santo Tomas, which also hosted the competition held on Feb. 25 to 28.

UP Law’s team captain Adrian Gabriel Padilla, was joined by Louise Michiko Lokin, Franco Luis Lopez, Sheigne Alvir Miñano, and Paolo Ireneo Jose, while UP Prof. Paolo Tamase and

Aloysius Francis Bresnan mentored the team with Prof. Rommel Casis as faculty adviser.

The UP Law will compete for the Jessup Cup in the White & Case International Rounds in Washington, DC from April 8 to 15, after a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. –gb
