Filipino-American actress Vanessa Hudgens is set to shoot a travel documentary exploring the heritage of her Asian family in the Philippines which will be directed by Paul Soriano.

According to Variety, the still untitled documentary film will showcase the relationship between Hudgens and her Filipino mother, who emigrated to the United States at the age of 25, as well as Hudgens’ sister, Stella.

“I feel like ours is such a relatable story to so many women all over the world,” Hudgens was quoted as saying, adding that “the more that we can share, the more we can lift each other up.”

“We are honored to work with Vanessa for this film project. It’s inspiring to note that with everything she has achieved in life, she wants to discover her Filipino roots and pay homage to her mother’s country. Hopefully, this opens doors for many more collaborations to come,” Soriano said in a statement.

The upcoming project of the actress is set to be shot at Palawan and Manila March this year.

Hudgens’ career start-off was during Disney’s “High School Musical” which afterwards, led her to play series of key roles, such as in “Spring Breakers,” “Gimme Shelter,” “Bad Boys for Life,” “The Knight Before Christmas”, “The Princess Switch” series and the Oscar-nominated Lin-Manuel Miranda-directed musical “Tick, Tick …Boom!”. – gb
