Pursuit ops ongoing vs. suspect in Cavite student slay case

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said it started the manhunt operations against the suspect in the killing of a De La Salle University (DLSU)–Dasmariñas student in Cavite on Tuesday, March 28.

This, after the PNP identified the suspect as Angelito “Kulet” Erlano, a resident of Barangay San Nicolas 2, Dasmariñas City, Cavite.

“We condemn this heinous crime and we will not stop until the perpetrator will be put behind bars. We call on the public to cooperate with the authorities and report any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect,” PNP Chief Police Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said. 

On Wednesday, March 29, authorities identified the suspect’s house at 11:30 p.m. after follow-up operations by Dasmariñas City Police Station and Cavite Provincial Intelligence Unit operatives.

Recovered in the suspect’s house were a black shirt with a white stripe and a blue shirt believed to have been worn by the suspect during the crime. 

A black backpack believed to be owned by the victim was also found.

While pursuit operations are ongoing, the Dasmariñas City Police Station is also preparing for a case buildup and for the filing of appropriate charges.

The police said the suspect was previously involved in other robbery cases. – cf
