PCG: 78 drowning incidents recorded during Holy Week

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) recorded 78 drowning incidents during the Holy Week, including 53 individuals who were rescued by first responders, as well as 21 fatalities.

In an update, the PCG said these were recorded from April 2 to April 10.

Search and rescue operations are underway for four missing victims in Antique, Camarines Sur, Leyte, and Catanduanes.

On April 8, five individuals drowned in Barangay Dolo, San Jose in Camarines Sur, the highest number of victims in a drowning incident during the Holy Week.

The highest number of rescued individuals at 27 was recorded in Barangay Sabang, Vinzons, Camarines Norte on April 8.

No similar incidents were reported by Coast Guard Districts in Northeastern Mindanao, Southwestern Mindanao, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Central Visayas, at Palawan.  – gb
