GCash says no hacking involved in unauthorized deductions from multiple accounts

Digital wallet GCash assured on Tuesday, May 9, that there was no hacking involved following reports of unauthorized deductions from multiple customers in their mobile wallet on Monday, May 8.

“We extended our scheduled maintenance to investigate and determined that no hacking occurred,” GCash said in a statement.

“Any deduction from a GCash account will be adjusted before 3:00 PM today,” it added.

GCash also assured the affected customers that their funds “remain safe and secure.”

“We would also like to remind customers to never share their OTP and MPIN.”

As of writing, GCash is now accessible after several users reportedly had issues accessing the application Tuesday morning. -ag
