The Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) announced Friday, May 19, that it will resume testing for COVID-19.

“Muli nang ipinagpapatuloy ng RITM ang pagproseso ng mga sample ng COVID-19 sa pamamagitan ng SARS-COV-2 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction at ang pagtanggap ng mga specimen para sa COVID-19 testing,” RITM said in a Facebook post.

This as the number of COVID-19 infections in the country continues to increase.

Meanwhile, the RITM Online Appointment portal is likewise accessible beginning Friday.

“Nilalayon ng RITM na patuloy na magbigay ng mas mahusay na serbisyo sa pangangalagang pangkalusugan at palakasin ang kapasidad nito upang makapagbigay ng mataas na kalidad na mga serbisyo sa laboratory para sa pampublikong kalusugan,” it added.

On Thursday, the Department of Health reported an additional 2,014 COVID-19 cases.

There are a total of 16,504 active COVID-19 cases in the country as of May 18.

The City of Baguio will be bringing back its mandatory face mask rule indoors amid the rising COVID-19 cases in the country. — ag
