A recent survey conducted by OCTA Research Group found that the majority of adult Filipinos wanted to be entrepreneurs.

The Tugon ng Masa survey, conducted nationwide from March 23 to 28, found that 78% of adult Filipinos would choose to go into business, citing the benefit of managing own time and schedule (31%), having no boss to report to (30%), no limit in profit or salary (16%), having daily income (12%), and the ability to work and earn anywhere (11%).

The same poll also revealed that Filipinos had high awareness of the non-profit Go Negosyo, which advocates for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the Philippines.

It showed a 68% awareness rating for Go Negosyo.

Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion welcomed the Tugon ng Masa’s findings.

“If there is one sector that has been active and striving during the pandemic, it is the micro, small, and medium enterprises, and they are the ones poised to lead the Philippines’ economic development, especially as we recover from the pandemic,” Concepcion said.

“The growing number of Filipinos willing to explore entrepreneurship means that our advocacy at Go Negosyo is getting across to all Filipinos from all the socio-economic classes and all over the country,” he added.

The poll surveyed 1,200 Filipino adults. – cf
