Two volcanic tremors were recorded in Taal Volcano on June 2, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported Saturday, June 3.
However, its alert level, which is currently at Alert Level 1, remains.
Plumes that rose up 1,500 meters were observed while sulfur dioxide emissions averaged at 5,831 tonnes were logged on June 1.
Meanwhile, entry into Taal Volcano Island, especially the Main Crater and Daang Kastila fissures is still prohibited, as well as boating on Taal Lake.
Flying any aircraft close to the volcano is also not recommended as possible hazards, including steam-driven, phreatic, or gas driven explosions; volcanic earthquakes; minor ashfall; and lethal accumulations or expulsions of volcanic gas can still occur. – cf
