Local government units (LGUs) are prepared in case mandatory evacuation is declared for families residing in areas affected by the activities of Taal and Mayon volcanoes, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Wednesday, June 7.

Diego Mariano, deputy spokesperson for the NDRRMC, said there are no “major movements” yet on their side, noting that the Mayon Volcano is still under Alert Level 2 and Taal Volcano remains under Alert Level 1.

The official said individuals remain prohibited from entering permanent danger zones as they continue to monitor the status of the volcanoes.

The NDRRMC called on the public to cooperate with authorities during evacuation operations.

It also assured that there is sufficient amount of quick response and standby funds to assist those affected by the volcanoes’ activities, as well as the impact of Tropical Storm “Chedeng.” – gb
