The state weather bureau said the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) continues to affect the country, bringing cloudy skies and rain showers on Wednesday, June 21.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over BARMM, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Palawan due to ITCZ.

Flash floods or landslides due to scattered light to moderate to at times heavy rains are possible.

The ITCZ or localized thunderstorms will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

These may bring about possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the country will experience its longest day and shortest night on Wednesday, with 13 hours of total daytime in an astronomical event called June or summer solstice.

“[Kung] saan ang araw ay pinakamalayong nakatutok sa may equator. Ito ay nakatutok sa may 23.5°N latitude, at ito ang tinatawag na Tropic of Cancer,” PAGASA weather forecaster Patrick Del Mundo said.

“Ito ay nasa area ng Taiwan nakatutok ngayong araw. Inaasahang magiging epekto nito sa ating bansa, magkakaroon tayo ng 13 hours of total daytime,” he added.
