The Department of Health (DOH) launched a part of its nationwide healthy lifestyle campaign called Biyaheng Kalusugan in a bid to promote health literacy among Filipinos.
Biyaheng Kalusugan is an initiative to celebrate health events through engaging health activities across the country.
The DOH said this also encourages Filipinos to adopt the seven health habits: Move more, eat right; be clean, live sustainably; get vaccinated; don’t smoke, don’t drink alcohol, say no to drugs; care for yourself, care for others; practice safe sex; and do no harm, put safety first.
“Malaking bahagi ng ating Eight-point action agenda ang pagtutok sa pag-iwas sa sakit at nais nating palawigin ang kaalaman tungkol dito sa pamamagitan ng Biyaheng Kalusugan,” DOH Secretary Ted Herbosa said.
“We will ensure that the Universal Health Care (UHC) Act is felt by every Filipino anywhere across the country. Sa pamamagitan ng Biyaheng Kalusugan, ating sinisiguro ang Health Pilipinas dahil bawat buhay mahalaga!” he added.
The initiative was introduced in April to coincide with the nationwide launch of the national vaccination program Chikiting Ligtas.
Biyaheng Kalusugan is also set in Zamboanga this June to launch the No Smoking Month.
This will be followed by Nutrition Month in Ilocos and Central Luzon in July, Family Planning in the Bangsamoro Region and Northern Mindanao in August, and World Environmental Health Day in Western Visayas in September.
The DOH will also hold the observance of Mental Health Month in the Cordillera Administrative Region and Bicol in October, World Toilet Day in Central Visayas, Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week in Davao and Caraga in November, and World AIDS Day in Soccsksargen in December. – By Trisha Casabar-ag
