Rain showers will dampen most areas in Mindanao and the Visayas due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) affecting southern Mindanao and the easterlies affecting the Visayas and Mindanao, the weather bureau said Thursday, July 6.

“The ITCZ will cause rains, thunderstorms over Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, and the southern portion of Palawan the whole day,” Patrick Del Mundo of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

These areas may experience moderate to at times heavy rains that may result in flash floods and landslides, according to PAGASA.

Del Mundo said rains and thunderstorms due to the easterlies are also forecast over the Visayas and Mindanao.

Luzon, on the other hand, will have fair and warm weather.

Rains are likely in the afternoon, Del Mundo said.

The whole country will continue to experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.

Del Mundo said fair weather is seen to prevail across the country for the next three days as no tropical cyclone is expected to enter or develop until the weekend. –cf
