The Philippine National Police (PNP) said it is 100% ready to ensure safety and security at the second State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on July 24.

In a public briefing on Tuesday, July 11, PNP Public Information Office (PIO) chief PBGen. Red Maranan assured that there will be enough police personnel to be deployed during SONA.

“Ayaw muna natin sabihin ‘yung eksaktong numero ng ating ide-deploy [na mga pulis], sapagkat gusto natin tratuhin ito na isang operational data,” the chief PIO said.

“But we would like to assure everyone na ‘yung ating ide-deploy na pulis ay sapat sa pangangailangan para masigurado natin ang seguridad ng ikalawang SONA ng ating Pangulo,” he added.

Maranan also said minor adjustments are being made based on their threat assessment and continuous meetings and coordinations with the National Capital Region Police Office.

“Handang-handa na po ang NCRPO sa darating na ikalawang SONA ng ating Pangulo at sa ngayon po ay mga very minor adjustments na lang ang ating ginagawa,” he said.

“But one thing is for sure, PNP is ready to secure the second SONA of our President,” he assured. – cf,ag
