Water concessionaire Manila Water said it continues to provide 24/7 water services and supply to all its consumers in the eastern part of Metro Manila and Rizal Province.

In the July 14 Laging Handa briefing, Manila Water Spokesperson Jeric Sevilla said Manila Water is not implementing scheduled daily water interruptions amid the dip in the water level of Angat Dam.

“Kung mayroon man tayong pagkawala ng tubig, hindi ito dahil sa binaba ‘yung alokasyon sa 48 cubic meter per second, kundi dahil ito sa regular and preventive maintenance lamang,” he said.

Sevilla said the maintenance activity is usually performed from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. to ensure that water lines are in good condition, free from blockages, and to maintain continuous water flow at an affordable price.

The spokesperson also mentioned there are ongoing augmentation projects, which have reduced non-revenue water to around 13 to 14% only.

Aside from this, to compensate for the water supply from Angat Dam, water is sourced from the Cardona Water Treatment Plant, which is capable of providing 110 million liters of water per day.

Sevilla noted the availability of additional water sources such as Marikina Portable Plant, Kalawis Project, East Bay Project, and deep wells, which can be utilized to sustain the 24/7 water service.

He also said Manila Water is prepared for the potential effects of El Niño, including in the areas of Maynilad Water Services in the west zone.

“Katulad din ng paghahanda ng Manila Water dito sa east zone, ‘yung atin pong nasasakupan sa labas ng Metro Manila, naka-ano na rin – nakaayos na rin yung mga deep well,” Sevilla said.

“Inayos yung mga linya, ang additional sources po from other sources sa labas ng Metro Manila ay inihanda na rin po natin,” he added.
