‘Falcon,’ enhanced ‘habagat’ bring rain showers over parts of Luzon

By Ma. Cristina Arayata | Philippine News Agency

Some areas in Luzon will experience rain showers due to the southwest monsoon (habagat) enhanced by Typhoon “Falcon,” the weather bureau said Monday.

Occasional to monsoon rains will be experienced over the western portion of Luzon in the next three days.

Flooding and rain-induced landslides are expected especially in areas highly susceptible to these hazards, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 4:00 a.m. weather bulletin.

While the hoisting of wind signals remains unlikely due to Falcon, gusty conditions will prevail over Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Lubang Island, Kalayaan Islands, Cuyo Islands, Romblon, the northwestern portion of Antique, Camarines Sur and Albay.

Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, and Occidental Mindoro will get occasional rain showers due to the southwest monsoon.

Gusty conditions are more likely in coastal and upland or mountainous areas, according to PAGASA.

The enhanced “habagat” will also cause moderate to rough seas over the coastal waters along the northern, western and southern seaboards of Luzon.

PAGASA advised mariners of small sea vessels to take precautionary measures when venturing over these waters.

Falcon packs maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph.

It was last tracked 1,070 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon.

Falcon is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Tuesday. – gb
