6.4 quake hits Dalupiri Island, Cagayan

A 6.4-magnitude earthquake hit Dalupiri Island in Calayan, Cagayan Tuesday evening, Sept. 12, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.

The quake had a depth of 10 kilometers (km) and was plotted at 26 km northwest of Dalupiri Island about 7:03 p.m.

Intensity IV was recorded in Sinait, Ilocos Sur.

Meanwhile, the following Instrumental Intensities were logged in the following areas:

  • Intensity IV – Aparri and Gonzaga, Cagayan; Laoag City, Ilocos Norte
  • Intensity III – Penablanca, Cagayan; Sinait and Vigan City, Ilocos Sur
  • Intensity II – Ilagan, Isabela
  • Intensity I – Casiguran, Aurora; Candon, Narvacan, and Tagudin in Ilocos Sur

No damages were reported but aftershocks are possible.
