Most parts of the country will experience cloudy skies and scattered rain showers due to the southwest monsoon Friday, Sept. 15.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will be experienced over Zambales, Bataan, Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga, the weather bureau said in its 4:00 a.m. bulletin.

Moderate to at times heavy rains in those areas may result in flash floods and landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

The rest of the country will have isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms and the southwest monsoon.

PAGASA added that light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will continue to prevail across the archipelago.

Meanwhile, PAGASA forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said the low pressure area that the bureau has been monitoring was last tracked 405 km. north-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.

“It has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone, and is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility within 24 hours,” he said. (PNA)
