DOH sees spike in leptospirosis cases

A spike in leptospirosis cases in the country was seen by the Department of Health (DOH).

DOH associated the increase to recent typhoons and heavy rains.

A total of 3,728 cases of leptospirosis were logged from Jan. 1 to Sept. 2 or a 70% increase from the same period last year.

In the recent three to four weeks, 733 cases were recorded or a 32% uptick from the same period last year.
