The smog that the residents of Metro Manila has been experiencing has no connection with Taal Volcano’s volcanic smog or vog, according to the chief of the Department of Science and Technology.

In an interview with PTV’s Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon, Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary and Phivolcs Officer-in-Charge Renato Solidum said the source of smog in Metro Manila comes from pollution and not from volcanic gas.

Solidum also called on the public to wear face masks to protect themselves against smog and vog.
