The trough of a low pressure area (LPA) spotted 1,170 km. east of Eastern Visayas will continue to cause rains over parts of the country.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Mindanao, Bicol Region, Eastern and Central Visayas due to the LPA’s trough, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 5 a.m. weather bulletin Tuesday.

“It has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within 48 hours,” PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castaneda said.

She said the LPA could enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) within 24 to 48 hours.

“Once inside PAR, it could possibly cross over Southern Luzon, which could cause rains in the area in the next few days,” she said.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will continue to experience isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas still prevail across the archipelago.
