President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Z. Duterte still enjoy significant support from Filipinos as their trust ratings in the fourth quarter of 2023 have improved based on OCTA Research’s Tugon ng Masa survey released on Tuesday.
The poll showed that 76% of adult Filipinos trust President Marcos, while only 8% said otherwise. This is three percent higher than the third quarter survey result of 73%.
Across major areas, Marcos got the highest trust rating in the Visayas (79%) followed by Balance Luzon (78%), National Capital Region (73%), and Mindanao (69%).
In terms of socioeconomic classes, Marcos received the highest trust rating among Class E or “the poorest” at 77% while his lowest trust rating was in Class ABC at 69%.
Vice President Duterte likewise gained a 77% trust rating, higher than the 75% she recorded in the third quarter survey, with only 5% showing distrust in her.
Duterte logged her highest trust rating in Mindanao at 99%, however, her trust rating in Luzon is at 64%.
OCTA reported that the Vice President’s trust ratings ranged from 59% to 84% among various socioeconomic groups, receiving highest trust from adult Filipinos in Class E and lowest in Class ABC.
In terms of performance, about 71% of adult Filipinos were satisfied with Marcos’ performance while Duterte got 75%.
The country’s top government officials got 9% and 7% dissatisfaction ratings with their performance, respectively.
Meanwhile, Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri and House Speaker Martin Romualdez got trust ratings of 59% and 64%, respectively.
Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo got a trust rating of 23%.
The poll was conducted from Dec. 10 to 14, 2023 and surveyed 1,200 adults nationwide.
Previously, the Tugon ng Masa survey also revealed that 59% of Filipinos are still satisfied with the performance of the Marcos administration, up by three points from 56% in the October 2023 survey. – avds
