#WalangPasok: LGUs suspends classes due to hot weather

Several local government units (LGUs) have suspended classes on Monday (April 1, 2024) due to a high heat index exceeding 40°C.

Classes are suspended in the following areas:

  • Iloilo City: No face-to-face classes from preschool to senior high school, public and private, until April 2 [Private schools are subject to the full discretion of their school heads/administrators on April 2, insofar as their school setting and facilities (i.e., provisioned with air-conditioning units) can accommodate onsite learning during extreme heat conditions].
  • Bacolod City: No face-to-face classes from preschool to senior high school, public and private, until April 2
  • E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental: No face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private, until April 2
  • Isabela, Negros Occidental: No classes in all levels, public and private, until April 2
  • Silay City, Negros Occidental: No classes in all levels, public and private, until April 2
  • Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental: No face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private, until April 2
  • Bago City, Negros Occidental: No face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private, until April 2
  • Dumangas, Iloilo: No classes from preschool to senior high school, public and private, until April 2
  • Roxas City, Capiz: No face-to-face classes from preschool to senior high school, public and private 
  • Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental: No classes in all levels, public and private
  • Tantangan, South Cotabato: Half-day classes in all levels, public and private, until April 15

Meanwhile, the LGUs also ordered the schools to implement blending learning, including online and modular methods amid the suspension of classes. – avds
