The mouthwatering Bacolod City favorite “inasal na manok” has dethroned “sinigang” as the best Filipino dish, according to the latest ranking by global food and travel magazine TasteAtlas.

Updated on Oct. 16, the famed chicken inasal earned a 4.5 out of 5 stars rating, cementing its position in Philippine culinary heritage.

Declared as Bacolod’s important cultural property in 2022, this local dish uses various chicken cuts marinated in a mixture of vinegar and spices and then brushed with annatto-infused oil during grilling.

With its appetizing golden color and distinct peppery flavor, chicken inasal is certainly a must-try dish for tourists and locals alike.

Trailing behind inasal na manok is the star of Filipino parties, the “lechon,” followed by haluhalo topping, leche flan, traditional beef soup, bulalo, and another party favorite, lumpiang shanghai.

Meanwhile, sinigang na baboy, tortang talong, lechon kawali, Bicol express, and arroz caldo rounded out the top 10.

Both inasal na manok and sinigang previously tied for the top spot in TasteAtlas’ list of best rated Filipino Foods in September. —av
