A suspicious shipment received from a delivery service resulted in the seizure of suspected kush or high-grade marijuana worth P39 million in Bulacan province, the Police Regional Office (PRO) 3 (Central Luzon) said on Thursday.

In a statement, PRO 3 director PBGEN. Redrico Maranan said a female resident in Balagtas town reported to the local police that her husband received a parcel supposedly from Canada on Wednesday.

The female resident said the package was consigned to her sibling, who is in jail for a drug-related case. This raised her suspicion since she has no relatives abroad.

Upon verifying the claim, Maranan said the Balagtas Municipal Police Station with local officials and representatives from the Department of Justice discovered that the package contained 52 sealed plastic sachets containing 26 kg of kush.

Maranan said they are investigating whether the incident is linked to the operations of an international drug syndicate.

He also urged the public to be vigilant and continue to cooperate with the authorities by immediately reporting any suspicious activity.
