The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has partnered with SM Prime Holdings Inc. (SMPHI) to establish a real-time Air Quality Monitoring Station (AQMS) in Quezon City.

The collaboration supports the government’s efforts to address air pollution through enhanced monitoring, according to a news release Thursday.

SMPHI, a major property developer in Asia, joined the Environmental Management Bureau’s Adopt-a-CAMS (Continuous Ambient Air Monitoring System) Program, which is aligned to the prerogatives of the Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999.

DENR said the AQMS data will help in formulating evidence-based policies that benefit both the environment and local communities.

The DENR commended SMPHI’s contribution, noting that the partnership strengthens the DENR’s ability to monitor the quality of air over the National Capital Region and sets a positive example for other companies to contribute to environmental protection.
