NCCA and DFA official attend 13th ASEAN SOMCA and Related Meetings with Dialogue Partners

National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Head of International Affairs Office, Ms. Mary Anne M. Luis, along with officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), attended the 13th ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Culture and the Arts (SOMCA) and Related Meetings with Dialogue Partners hosted by Brunei Darussalam on December 11 to 14.

The meeting was chaired by Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, Brunei Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports as the Chairperson of the 13th SOMCA. In her welcome remarks, Datin Dr. Hajah Norlila congratulated the Philippines and the rest of the ASEAN member-states for “their fruitful implementation of various initiatives especially in promoting ASEAN culture and arts which play a very important role in building the ASEAN Community that is envisioned to be created by 2025.”

The meeting discussed the status and actions which hve been implemented following the 7th AMCA and 12th SOMCA meetings hosted by Brunei Darussalam last year. It also deliberated on the latest status of the strategic plan in the field of culture and arts for 2016-2025; the implementation of projects under the ASEAN Committee on Culture and Information (ASEAN-COCI) platform; and the cooperation in the field of culture between ASEAN and its dialogue partners.
