MANILA — The City of Muntinlupa has celebrated its 100th founding anniversary as an independent municipality this week.
Thousands of Muntinlupeños joined the “Grand Centennial Salubong” on Monday midnight, celebrating Muntinlupa’s centenary date on December 19.
Public Information Officer Tez Navarro said the “Grand Salubong” was a simultaneous festival from Tunasan to Sucat where Muntinlupa residents celebrated the local milestone.
The city has prepared various activities for the event such as live musical performances, a fireworks display and the blessing and inauguration of the Muntinlupa City Fire Station and the Command Center in Tunasan.
Mayor Jaime Fresnedi led the blessing and inauguration of the fire station and command center.
Vice President Leni Robredo was the guest of honor for the event.
Some of the bands and artists that performed in the centennial celebration include: Eli Buendia’s Apartel, DJ Eva Ronda (MOR 101.9), The Blanc, RX2 Band in Poblacion, Side A, Salbakuta, True Faith, DJ Roy in Alabang, The Juans, DJ Panyero (101.1 YES FM), Cheesemelt, JP Band, Salinlaji in Bayanan.
The city is also poised to host the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Parade of Stars.
Fresnedi thanked the organizer for this honor as the parade will be one of the highlights of the city’s 100th founding year celebration.
