The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) reminded transportation companies and operators that only content rated ‘G’ (General Patronage) and ‘PG’ (Parental Guidance) are allowed for showing inside public utility vehicles (PUV).
In a statement on Monday (April 14), the MTRCB said the policy is mandated under its Memorandum Circular No. 03-2024 which classifies common carriers as ‘movie theaters’ for regulatory purposes.
“This ensures that content remains appropriate and has no negative impact on minors traveling with their families,” it said.
It called on passengers to report violations through the MTRCB official social media channels @MTRCBGov or via e-mail at complaints@mtrcb.gov.ph.
“Legal action will be taken against violators in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 1986 and Chapter XIII of the 2004 Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations,” it said.
The board issued the reminder as travelers have started to head to their respective provinces to observe Holy Week, which Filipinos mark with deep devotion through church services, processions and personal acts of penance. (PNA)
