The Department of Public Works and Highways – National Capital Region (DPWH-NCR) will mount 24-hour road repairs and bridge rehabilitation works in three cities during the long Holy Week holidays.
In an advisory Tuesday, DPWH said these works would begin at 11:00 p.m. on April 16 (Holy Wednesday) until 5:00 a.m. on April 21 (Easter Monday).
Road works in Pasig City involve the replacement of an expansion joint along the southbound portion of C5 Road/Ortigas Flyover (all lanes).
Motorists may take the Service Road, C5 Road/Ortigas Interchange (all lanes), Lanuza Avenue, and C5 Road/Sampaguita Flyover East & West Ramp.
In Makati City, the removal and installation of expansion joint and painting application for concrete and steel will be conducted from Magallanes Avenue to Alpha Land, Magallanes Flyover Northbound (Lower) and from Magallanes Avenue to Alpha Land, Magallanes Flyover Northbound (Upper).
The reblocking activities in Quezon City will be from JL Escoda Street to Congressional Auto Care & Restoration Centre Co., Congressional Avenue Extension, and Mindanao Avenue Underpass, northbound and southbound.
Motorists may take the Service Road as an alternative route.
The DPWH-NCR advised motorists to access other lanes, and service roads to avoid traffic congestion in the affected areas.
Once completed, the closed lanes will be opened immediately to the public after the curing period.
It added that the completion of the road reblocking works and repair of the expansion joints would help ensure road and bridge safety for motorists in Metro Manila.
Meanwhile, the department encouraged the public to seek road assistance from the DPWH-NCR Lakbay Alalay Motorist Assistance team, to be stationed at various strategic points in the region during the Holy Week.
