‘Pasko Fiesta’ activities moved due to bad weather

DAVAO CITY — The Executive Committee of this year’s Pasko Fiesta has moved the activities slated December 21 and 22 to another date due to the bad weather condition brought by Tropical Storm Vinta.

Pasko Fiesta, which started on December 1, is an annual Christmas event in Davao City.

“We are very ready, but for everyone’s safety there will be no Pasko Fiesta activities on December 21 and 22,” City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) Chief Generose Tecson said.

Mayor Inday Sara Duterte has also urged the Dabawenyos to stay indoors while the city is experiencing bad weather.

The City Government has also cancelled classes in all levels in both the private and public schools in the city.

The mayor has advised everyone to exercise prudence in planning their activities from December 21 to December 23.

Among the activities scheduled on these dates are Kaandabaw, a Christmas Food Street along Palma Gil. Tecson said most Pasko Fiesta Activities will resume on the December 23 — but still depending on the weather.

Lamdag Parada, originally scheduled on December 22, has been moved to December 28. Lamdag Parada includes the activities Parada ng mga Parol which is the parade of lighted Christmas lanterns and Banda Dasig which is a marching band competition.

Pasko DabaDaba, a concert of various Davao artists at the Roxas Night Market slated on December 23 has been moved to December 30. On the other hand, Koro Sa Pasko which is also slated n on the same date, has been moved December 27.

Koro sa Pasko, a Chorale Competition which is slated on December 23 at the Rizal Park, has also been moved to December 27 Wednesday, at the Matina Town Square.

The city government has previously advised the public to stay indoors from December 21-22 because storm signal no. 1 has been raised in the city. The advisory urged everyone to exercise prudence in planning their activities from Dec 21-23. (CIO)
