As part of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ‘s commitment towards inclusive and progressive development of the domestic agricultural sector, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is making significant strides in elevating the Guimaras mangoes—a globally recognized agricultural product—as a key player in both domestic and international markets.

DTI Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque emphasized the unique qualities of Guimaras mangoes that give these humble fruits significant potential for distribution, sale, and consumption in domestic and foreign locales, “The Guimaras mango’s recognition as the first and only agricultural product in the Philippines with Geographic Indication (GI) status speaks volumes about its quality, heritage, and market potential.”

The DTI is fully committed to supporting initiatives that protect the authenticity of our local products while enabling them to thrive in modern, competitive markets,” she added.

In a bid to increase the presence of Guimaras mangoes in the local market, DTI’s Supply Chain and Logistics Group (SCLG) and Regional Operations Group (ROG) has worked with the Provincial Government of Guimaras and the Guimaras Mango Growers and Producers Cooperative.

Likewise, the agency has also worked with local enterprises, logistics providers, and online shopping platforms to expand the reach and coverage of this initiative which is focused on inclusive growth and rural development.

On the global stage, the DTI, through its export promotions arm, the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), is preparing to feature Guimaras mangoes at the International Food Exposition (IFEX) Philippines 2025.

This international food trade event will spotlight the fruit’s premium attributes to buyers from around the world, with logistics support from FAST Logistics and participation from local farms such as Koko Mojo Mango Farm.
