President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday rejected alleged calls for his resignation, saying he has no reason to step down from his post amid the ongoing Cabinet rehabilitation.

In a media interview after the 46th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Tuesday, Marcos reiterated his commitment to face challenges head-on rather than evade them, “I will resign? Ba’t ko gagawin ’yon? At wala sa ugali ko ang tinatakbuhan ang problema. What good will that do?”

The President made the remark as the members of his Cabinet are currently undergoing performance reviews, clarifying that his move was not for show, but was aimed at improving the administration’s performance and delivery of public service.

He pointed out the changes in the Cabinet as part of broader efforts to address the immediate and day-to-day needs of the Filipino people, “We are looking at the problem deeply… I don’t do things [na] pang-optics.”

“If there is a problem, I like to fix it. So that’s what we are doing. So expect us to be doing a rigorous performance review, not only at the Cabinet level, but even deeper,” he added.

Last week, Marcos ordered Cabinet secretaries, heads of agencies with Cabinet rank, other heads of agencies, and Presidential advisers and assistants to submit courtesy resignations as part of his administration’s bid for a “bold reset” following the results of the 2025 midterm elections.
