The two-day Kadiwa ng Pangulo (KNP) has made available cheaper rice to consumers in Antique since Wednesday, June 11.

The Kamapat Agriculture Cooperative, consolidators of locally produced agricultural products, especially rice, and among the exhibitors, offers rice at P950 for a bag of 25 kilos, lower than those in commercial markets sold at P1,000 to P1,200 per bag.

“The Kamapat Agriculture Cooperative, during the first day of the KNP, sold 93 bags of locally produced rice,” Office of the Provincial Agriculturist Agri-Business and Marketing coordinator Betty Baldevia said in an interview on Thursday, June 12.

She said they made sure agricultural, fishery and other products sold at the KNP have lower prices to realize the objective of the KNP on ensuring food security and affordability among the consumers.

Meanwhile, Irele Mahimpit, who sells bamboo crafts, said that the KNP has provided her with an opportunity to sell bamboo beds and baskets.

“I was able to sell two bamboo beds and several baskets,” she said.

Other goods at the KNP are fresh vegetables and processed agri-fishery products. There are also squash noodles, fresh bananas, banana chips, salted peanuts, and coffee.

The exhibitors are also beneficiaries of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Tulong Panghanapbuhay Para sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD). (PNA)
