PrimeWater Infrastructure Corp. has pledged to resolve the water supply problem in Bulacan province before school opening, MalacaƱang said Wednesday.

The commitment was made after President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. directed the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) to conduct an immediate investigation into the lack of stable water supply in public schools he inspected in Malolos and San Miguel towns in Bulacan.

In a press briefing, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said PrimeWater and the City of Malolos Water District (CMWD) have convened a meeting to address the water service failure in the province.

Castro said there will be repair works in two affected villages starting Friday, following the dialogue between PrimeWater and the CMWD.

“Water is expected to return to normal levels upon completion of the repair and restoration of damaged pipelines before school opening. So, abangan po natin ang magiging trabaho ng PrimeWater kung tutupad sila sa kanilang pangako.”

Castro called on the public to give PrimeWater a chance to address the issue, ā€œTignan po muna natin. Bigyan natin sila ng chance. Although marami nang nagrereklamo sa PrimeWater, bigyan muna natin ng chance dahil ang sabi naman po nila ay sila’y naglilingkod sa bayan,ā€ she said.

The LWUA, upon the President’s directive, was given at least 48 hours to submit an initial report identifying the cause of the supply failures and the officials responsible, and outlining measures to restore services before the start of classes next week.Ā
