The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is currently monitoring two low pressure areas (LPAs) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), which both have a “medium” chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

As of 3:00 p.m., the first LPA was located 1,220 km east of southeastern Luzon, while the second one was located 405 km east of Calayan, Cagayan.

Both weather systems continue to intensify the southwest monsoon (habagat) in the wake of TS Crising’s (international name: Wipha) exit from PAR on Saturday, which has brought heavy downpour over most of Luzon and some areas in Visayas.

Torrential rains caused floods in several low-lying areas in Metro Manila and various provinces, prompting local government units (LGUs) to suspend classes Monday.

Meanwhile, the state weather bureau has issued a 24-hour rainfall forecast due to the enhanced southwest monsoon.

It will bring torrential downpour over Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, and Rizal on Tuesday, with 100-200mm of rain expected in these areas.

Pangasinan, Tarlac, Laguna, Quezon, and Occidental Mindoro are expected to have 50-100mm of rain.

PAGASA has also urged concerned government agencies, local government units, disaster response offices, and residents in affected areas to continue monitoring for official updates and bulletins.
