After entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) early on Monday, Severe Tropical Storm Gorio (international name: Podul) has maintained its strength as it continues to move westward over the West Philippine Sea.

Gorio was last located at 1,060 km. east of Extreme Northern Luzon, packing maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 135 km/h, moving westward at 20 km/h.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration’s (PAGASA) 5:00 p.m. bulletin, Gorio is unlikely to affect the country’s weather, but may bring rough seas over the coastal waters of Northern Luzon.

Owners of motor bancas and other small water vessels are advised to exercise caution in the open water, with up to 2-meter waves on the Northern Luzon seaboard.

Gorio is expected to maintain its path over the next 24 hours, and may exit the PAR on Wednesday evening.
