Closely following his earlier engagement with children at the Walang Gutom Kitchen in Pasay City, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. visited evacuees affected by the recent fire at Barangay 105, Happy Land, Tondo, Manila, on Thursday.
Marcos led the distribution of P15,000 in financial aid under the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) to 2,184 families displaced by the blaze, who were staying at the Antonio Villegas Vocational High School and General Vicente Lim Elementary School.
The monetary assistance distributed to Tondo fire victims was complemented by 2,235 family food packs, hygiene, and sleeping kits, as well as 2,000 hot meals prepared by the DSWD’s Mobile Kitchen.
President Marcos Jr. assured residents of continuing support from the government as they rebuild their homes and lives after the fire.
Marcos told the fire victims in his speech, “Asahan po ninyo ang gobyerno ninyo nandito, binabantayan kayo, inaalalayan kayo, at titiyakin namin na maaalagaan namin kayo sa lahat ng inyong pangangailangan.”
He added further, “Kaunting tiyaga lang po, gagawin po natin ang lahat para makabalik na kayo sa normal ninyong buhay.”
The Chief Executive was accompanied by Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso, DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, and Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao, during the aid distribution to Happy Land residents. (with report from Clay Pardilla/PTV News)
