President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Wednesday thanked the government of Hungary for extending aid to the victims of recent earthquakes in the Philippines, particularly in Cebu and Davao Oriental.
In a courtesy call by National Assembly of Hungary Speaker Kövér László at Malacañan Palace, Marcos Jr. said, “To begin with, allow me to thank your government for the assistance that you have given to us for our earthquake victims.”
Kövér is in the Philippines from Oct. 14 to 17 as part of the Hungarian National Day Reception hosted by the Embassy of Hungary in Manila.

The Hungarian official also visited Senate President Vicente Sotto III at the Senate and reaffirmed the strengthening of bilateral ties between Hungary and the Philippines.
The two nations established formal diplomatic relations on Sept. 28, 1973.
In a Facebook post, Sotto said the meeting “highlighted the deepening friendship and cooperation between the two nations as well as their shared aspirations for stronger ties with the European Union.”
Speaker Kövér will likewise meet with Cebu Gov. Pamela Baricuatro and Hungarian Honorary Consul in Cebu Enrilen Joy Benedicto-Tan.
