The Palace noted that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is monitoring the “Peaceful Rally for Transparency” simultaneously held by the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) at Quirino Grandstand and by the United People’s Initiative (UPI) at the EDSA Shrine on Sunday.

These mass demonstrations in Manila and Quezon City, which would last until Tuesday, reflect public sentiments of anger and frustration on the heels of recent developments vis-a-vis “ghost” and anomalous flood control projects.

Earlier, the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other concerned agencies went on full alert for the duration of the three-day event, in a bid to ensure peace and order and avoid a repeat of violent incidents that took place during the anti-corruption rally in September.

The PNP has also been monitoring the cyberspace for any incidents of cyberattacks that may simultaneously occur during the course of the protests. (with report from Clay Pardilla | PTV News)
