PBBM leads turnover of SPIPs, CamSur Food Complex to Bicol farmers

Reaffirming his commitment to look after the welfare of farmers that bring food to Filipinos’ tables, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the inspection of the Camarines Sur Food Complex and 2 Solar-Powered Irrigation Projects (SPIPs) during his visit on Monday.

At the event, the President met with members of the San Agustin-San Ramon Agrarian Reform Farmer’s Cooperative (SARFC) and the New Mataoroc, San Jose, Sagrada Familia, and Baliuag Viejo multi-purpose cooperative (New MASSBA MPC)—comprised of 1,800 farmers that are expected to benefit from the new SPIPs.

The new irrigation projects, worth P332 million, are expected to irrigate approximately 1255.85 hectares of farmland in various towns in the province.

Meanwhile, in his visit at the Camarines Sur Food Complex, President Marcos Jr. showcased the government’s flagship agricultural initiatives through the various facilities housed under this compound, which includes the fruit and vegetable processing facility and the Bicol mega cold storage facility.

Local products such as coco cola and coco-mangosteen drinks were featured in the program, which the Chief Executive hailed for its potential to compete with world-class delicacies.

Accompanying the President during these engagements were National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Administrator Eduardo Guillen, Department of Agriculture (D.A.) Secretary Francisco Tiu-Laurel Jr., Camarines Sur Governor Luis Raymund Villafuerte, and 5th District Representative Miguel Luis Villafuerte.
