Malacañang on Monday dismissed reports about an alleged Cabinet revamp.

In a statement, Executive Secretary Ralph Recto said that “there is no impending Cabinet shake-up” at present.

“Speculation about looming revamp does not serve any constructive purpose for the Government or the Filipino people,” Recto stressed.

Recto issued the statement after a media report claimed that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is preparing for his “most extensive Cabinet shake-up yet,” affecting at least nine department secretaries.

“As always, all appointees serve at the pleasure of the President, and their performance is subject to constant review by the Office of the President,” Marcos Jr.’s chief alter ego stressed.

“Everyone should remain focused on their jobs for the good of our people,” he added.

In a press briefing on Jan. 6, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro clarified that there was no announcement from the President yet for fresh changes in his Cabinet.

“We are making our performance at the discretion of the President. So, depende na po iyan kung ano po ang makikita ng Pangulo pero as of now, wala po tayong nababalitaan, wala pong ipinararating na magkakaroon po ng Cabinet revamp,” Usec. Castro said.

Marcos Jr., who is currently in the United Arab Emirates for a working visit from Jan. 12 to 14, designated Recto along with Agrarian Reform Secretary Conrado Estrella III and Social Welfare Secretary Rex Gatchalian as government caretakers. (with report from Clay Pardilla / PTV News)
